Reflections on the work of ICOEF UK during 2018

When the snow was on the ground and we visited York. Grampy Ron was interested in all the viking things at the museum and the engines at The Railway Museum where he met a man who worked there, from close to Grandads home in Withernsea.

Luton & Dunstable Hospitals started ordering our wonderful medical puppets

President Judith White collected a cheque from Withernsea McColls Store, Also puppets being sent to Scotland as well as the UK.

We appointed a new trustee, Mr David Townend to join our six strong team of trustees. Nathaniel one of our Junior Ambassadors started making Rhubalade. Picking the rhubarb from his and his grandads gardens. Simon enjoyed helping him make it and then they sold it to raise money for ICOEF UK. A brilliant idea and very enjoyable. We at head office, are looking forward to having a jar next year.

The second Pub Quiz Night was held at the Spread Eagle, Withernsea. We had a great night. Although the Gastronaut team didn't win we still raised funds to help us continue giving puppets to more children.

Brookland Special School Reigate bought 2 puppets to use in teaching their children. We only allow Special schools and hospitals to buy our puppets if they are using them to teach children to adapt to their new way of life.

All our puppets were invited to the Beverley Puppet Festival where we really let our hair down and raising money for the charity over the two days of the Festival. It was a very hot weekend but we met lots of people and raised awareness for the charity. Two of our trustees David and Karen helped us.

8th was the 2nd anniversary of the formation of ICOEF UK registered with the charity commission.

We also attended the Withernsea Scouts Fun day held in valley gardens raising awareness of the charity. It is great when we can support other local charities and groups when they put on events. We also published the forthcoming joint sponsored walk which was held in September.

The puppets and the town crier flooded the town with shouting and noise etc. giving out sponsor forms for the sponsored walk the next day, two of our puppets walked the five miles.

Appointed Mr David Rowland as our Patron.

We attended Withernsea Junior School Christmas Fair.

Also visited Chester, Aberystwyth and Stafford on Charity awareness meetings.

We started planning for our Grand Auction to be held in May 2019. We are always looking for unusual and special items to auction. Planning events for 2019 and reflecting on the fact that we had donated more puppets in 2018 than in previous years.

Have you seen our Facebook pages?

ICOEF UK is an open page Forthcoming events are put on here plus photos sent to us by parents. Please put a comment as we love to talk to new people. Please be aware this can be read by children. Please watch your language.

Grampy Ron Gastronaut is also an open page. He is the oldest member of the Gastronauts. He helps keep all the family in order. This is also where requests to join the Ambassadors page are dealt with. He is very strict Bad language or swearing will not be tolerated.

Finally the Ambassadors page. This is a CLOSED GROUP purely for parents carers and children to talk amongst themselves about anything they wish regarding their new way of life. Only parents/carers and children who have a puppet will be allowed into this special group. Grampy Ron does try to put each child in as the puppets are sent off. If he misses you just ask him to add you. Give him the name of your puppet and he will let you in.
